Given the increasingly tense situation with the pneumonia epidemic, essential items for disease prevention such as various types of medical masks and hand, foot, and mouth sanitizers have become more necessary than ever.
Due to the volatile market for medical masks in Hanoi recently, not only residents but also foreign tourists have faced significant difficulties in finding and purchasing medical masks. Understanding these difficulties, the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club has launched a free mask distribution campaign to contribute to the prevention of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus (nCoV).

On the first day of its "launch" on February 4th, the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club organized free distribution points at four locations: the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Ngoc Son Temple, the Temple of Literature, and the Heritage House at 87 Ma May Street.
The club's free mask distribution point is located at the Temple of Literature.
With the goal of ensuring disease prevention, the club only selects 3-layer and 4-layer antibacterial, water-resistant face masks from reputable suppliers. The masks are given to tourists in packs of three in clear plastic bags.
Face masks have become practical for both domestic and international tourists.

As of the morning of February 4th, over 1,000 face masks had been distributed to domestic and international tourists. Distribution points at the Temple of Literature and Ngoc Son Temple reached a large number of foreign visitors due to the high volume of tourists.

The distribution point at the Heritage House at 87 Ma May Street was slightly less crowded, so foreign tourists received thorough guidance and advice from volunteers on how to use the free masks provided at the counter. French tourist Julian, at the Ma May Heritage House, shared: “Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness. I had a hard time finding masks at pharmacies around here these past few days.”

As the media sponsor of the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, Travellive magazine also contributed 2,000 free face masks to the campaign.
