To facilitate recreational activities and sightseeing for locals and tourists during the Lunar New Year, according to an announcement from the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board, two historical sites, the Heritage House at 87 Ma May and the historical site at 22 Hang Buom, will be open for free visits from January 28, 2025 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon) to January 30, 2025 (the 2nd day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake).
Located north of Hoan Kiem Lake, standing modestly on the street of the same name, the ancient house at 87 Ma May Street is not only an architectural and artistic monument but also a "cultural meeting point" in Hanoi.
Accordingly, the opening hours are: Morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM; afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. From January 31, 2025 (the 3rd day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake), the two historical sites will resume charging entrance fees as regulated, at a rate of 20,000 VND per person per visit.
In addition, during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake 2025, the National History Museum's exhibition system will be closed from January 25th, 2025 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) until January 29th, 2025 (the 1st day of the Lunar New Year). The National History Museum will reopen to visitors on January 30th, 2025 (the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year). The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology will open on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year with the program "Celebrating the Year of the Snake: The Cultural Flavors of the Muong People in Hoa Binh".
During the Lunar New Year, the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám Cultural and Scientific Activities Center will also organize the Spring Calligraphy Festival 2025, along with exhibitions, folk games, and calligraphy activities to serve the people and domestic and international tourists from January 23rd to February 9th, 2024 (i.e., from the 24th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon to the 12th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake).
The Temple of Literature (Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam) is an attractive tourist destination, drawing a large number of domestic and international visitors.
According to the announcement, Thang Long Imperial Citadel will be closed on the 29th day of the 12th lunar month and the 1st day of Tet (Lunar New Year). Starting from the 2nd day of Tet, Thang Long Imperial Citadel will reopen to visitors as usual.
Meanwhile, Hoa Lo Prison announced it will remain open throughout the Tet holiday to serve locals and tourists who wish to visit, learn about, and preserve historical values. Opening hours: 8 AM - 5 PM (no lunch break).
The Vietnam Military History Museum will close from January 25, 2025 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) and will reopen on February 1, 2025 (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year).
