To commemorate the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd, a military parade and procession will take place in Ba Dinh Square and the central streets of Hanoi. According to the plan, the commemoration ceremony and parade will begin at 6:30 AM.
To ensure thorough preparation for the anniversary celebration and parade, the preliminary rehearsal will be held at 9 PM on August 27th (with August 28th as a contingency); the general rehearsal will be held at 7 AM on August 30th (with August 31st as a contingency).
In terms of troop organization, there will be six forces participating in the parade: the traditional torch relay and ceremonial fire honor guard; the ceremonial artillery force; the air force flying a welcoming flight; the marching and parade force; the background force; and the formation and lettering force.
Following the traditional torch relay and flag-raising ceremony, the leaders will deliver important speeches. The highlight of the ceremony is the parade, which begins at 7:45 AM. This is a spectacular display, concluding with a stunning artistic performance. It is expected to attract around 30,000 attendees, not including those directly participating in the parade.
The parade program includes: First, the traditional torch relay. Second, a ceremonial artillery fire. Third, an air salute. Fourth, a parade of troops in various formations.
This year's parade formations are large in scale, with a total of 18 standing formations and 43 marching formations. A special highlight is the participation of female contingents, with 7 female contingents from the Army and 2 from the Police, representing forces such as the Military Band, Military Medical Corps, and Traffic Police. In addition to the ground parade forces, the event also features tank and naval vessel formations, showcasing the strong development and modernization of the armed forces. Furthermore, several foreign military contingents, such as those from Laos and Cambodia, have confirmed their participation, adding to the international significance of the ceremony.
The Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Public Security have directed the organization of training for forces participating in this mission since the beginning of May 2025. Four joint training sessions have been held, and two comprehensive training sessions were organized on July 17th and most recently on August 5th.
Parallel to the activities in the capital, a naval parade will also be held in the Cam Ranh area, Khanh Hoa province, at the same time as the parade and march in Hanoi. After the marching contingents pass the reviewing stand, they will continue to move through the central streets to interact with and express their feelings to the people.
Through joint and combined training exercises, the units and forces have achieved good quality and followed the established training program. Currently, the morale, responsibility, health, and technical condition of the units are ready to carry out official missions.
Cultural and artistic activities will also be organized at the Quan Ngua Cultural Palace and the August Revolution Square, creating a vibrant festive atmosphere. The entire series of events aims to affirm the great will and immense historical value of the August Revolution, while also showcasing the strong development of the People's Army, the Self-Defense Militia, and the People's Police over the past 80 years under the wise leadership of the Party.
