Malaysia updates new tourism products, ready to welcome international visitors

Recently, the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board organized a program to introduce new tourism products. The event hopes to promote and provide information to Vietnamese tourists.

The Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board organized the program "Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board meets partners and updates tourism products". The event took place at Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers, Ho Chi Minh City. This is an opportunity to attract Vietnamese tourists to Malaysia when the country officially opens its borders from April 1, 2022.

The program is a bridge connecting tourism partners, opening up new business development opportunities and updating tourism products in Malaysia.

Specifically, the island nation has just built a brand new amusement park Genting SkyWorlds. The world's second tallest tower Merdeka 118, which began construction in 2014, has just opened to visitors earlier this year. In addition, Sunway Resort Kuala Lumpur has just reopened after a major renovation, along with the newly opened luxury coastal resort in Malaysia - Desaru Coast, which was named one of the World's Greatest Places in 2021 by TIME Magazine.

Not only the twin towers, luxury resorts or bustling cities, Malaysia attracts tourists by its pristine islands and seas. At this event, the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board also introduced a series of new tourist destinations.

Rawa is a pristine island about 30 minutes by boat from the coastal town of Mersing, Malaysia. Rawa Island is famous for its white sand beaches, coral reefs and extremely rich and diverse marine life. In particular, Mabul Island, Sabah has floating houses on the water, visitors can experience the culture with the locals.

Mr. Norisyam Odzali, Deputy Director of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board in Vietnam, said: “We are very excited to welcome more Vietnamese tourists to Malaysia. Malaysia’s relationship with Vietnam is a long-standing friendship. Therefore, this program hopes to promote Malaysia as a top tourist destination in the Vietnamese market. Not only does it have a convenient direct flight network between Vietnam and Malaysia, but Malaysia is also a safe, family-friendly holiday destination, as well as a culinary and shopping paradise."

At the event, Columbia Leisure Sdn Bhd, one of the leading inbound travel agencies based in Kuala Lumpur, also introduced its services and business proposals for travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City to develop new travel packages to Malaysia.

Vietnam is a key market for Malaysia and the Tourism Malaysia Promotion Board aims to attract more Vietnamese tourists, from those who have never been to Malaysia as well as those who will return regularly, to promote a strong recovery for this smokeless industry.

From 1 May 2022, international visitors to Malaysia who have been fully vaccinated will no longer be required to undergo pre-departure and post-arrival Covid-19 testing, including children aged 12 and below as well as those who have been infected within 6 to 60 days prior to departure to Malaysia.

Wearing masks is not mandatory in outdoor spaces but is still required in enclosed spaces, such as shopping malls, offices, public transport and technology cars.
