Malaysia made a strong comeback at VITM Hanoi 2019 to promote tourism.

Malaysia continues its efforts to attract more Vietnamese tourists by participating in the Vietnam International Tourism Fair (VITM) from March 27 to 30, 2019 at the Hanoi International Exhibition Center. This is the fifth time the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board has participated in this event.

Malaysia participated in VITM Hanoi 2019 in an effort to strongly promote and attract Vietnamese tourists to Malaysia, by enhancing the introduction and awareness of Malaysia as an ideal holiday destination, while also strengthening cooperative relationships with travel companies and agencies in the tourism industry. Visitors at VITM Hanoi could meet suppliers from Malaysia such as Sunway Lagoon theme park, Columbia Leisure travel company, Malaysia Medical Tourism Council (MHTC), and Malindo Air airline.

Mr. Abdul Hadi Che Man, Director of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board in Vietnam, said: “Malaysia is an ideal destination with reasonable costs and many travel options to suit all the needs of the Vietnamese market.”

Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board partners such as Malindo Air, Sunway Hotel & Entertainment Complex, Malaysia Medical Tourism Council (MHTC), and Columbia Leisure travel company will join Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board to showcase their latest products and services. Simultaneously, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board is also collaborating with the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club (HUTC) to offer tourists attractive tour packages such as: Kuala Lumpur – Sunway Lagoon (4 nights 3 days) from VND 8.9 million; Kuala Lumpur – Sky Mirror (4 nights 3 days) from VND 10.49 million; Penang (4 nights 3 days) from VND 10.69 million; Kuala Lumpur – Ipoh (4 nights 3 days) from VND 10.89 million; and Kuala Lumpur – Langkawi (5 nights 4 days) from VND 13.9 million.

At VITM 2019, Malaysian culture will be showcased through traditional dances by the Kuala Lumpur City Council Cultural Troupe, and demonstrations of banana leaf rice wrapping and three-tiered tea making by Malaysian artisans.

The Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board also organized a Tourism Seminar for Malaysian suppliers to showcase their products and services and meet Vietnamese customers at the Melia Hanoi Hotel on March 28, 2019.

Vietnam is one of the top 15 markets bringing tourists to Malaysia, with a total of 375,578 Vietnamese visitors in 2018, a 50.9% increase compared to 2017. Market-appropriate promotional efforts, along with 151 weekly flights providing 26,676 seats from Vietnamese cities to Malaysia, contributed to this growth in tourist numbers.

Malaysia hopes to receive 425,345 tourists from the Vietnamese market in 2019.
