The Moon typically reaches its peak in mid-June. This phenomenon is also known as the "strawberry moon" because the moon is full during the strawberry harvest season in the United States. This is one of the two largest full moons of 2022; the next supermoon of the year will occur in July.

During a supermoon, the full moon appears larger than usual and sometimes has a slightly orange tint. But the difference in size is actually so small that an average observer might never notice it.
