Meliá Group's fourth beachfront resort in Vietnam.
As part of its expansion strategy in Vietnam, the Spanish hotel group Meliá Hotels International has chosen Quy Nhon – a major coastal city in the South Central region and also the capital of Binh Dinh province.
The Meliá Quy Nhơn Beach Resort project spans 12 hectares, nestled between lush green hills and a white sandy beach. The resort will feature 140 guest rooms and 93 villas ranging from one to three bedrooms, each with an infinity pool and panoramic sea views. Amenities will also include an all-day dining restaurant, a beachfront restaurant, a beachfront pool with an integrated bar, a spa, a children's play area, and a large banquet hall for weddings and events.
The Meliá Quy Nhơn Beach Resort project is a collaboration between Meliá Group and Paradise Joint Stock Company - a large company with many years of experience in various fields and currently undertaking numerous large projects in Binh Dinh province.
Located in Ghenh Rang ward (Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh), the resort is about 3 km southeast of Quy Nhon city center. Ghenh Rang is famous for its scenic spots such as Hoang Hau Beach (formerly the favorite private beach of Empress Nam Phuong), Tien Sa Beach, Ghenh Rang Church, and the memorial area for poet Han Mac Tu.
This region also boasts abundant and diverse sources of fresh seafood. Ignacio Martin, Managing Director for Southeast Asia at Meliá Hotels International, stated: “We want to elevate the region’s diverse seafood offerings by infusing them with a touch of Spanish flair. Guests will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy Spanish cuisine with tapas, wines, cocktails, and mocktails.”
Having first entered Vietnam with the opening of Meliá Hanoi over 20 years ago, Meliá, with its new project in Quy Nhon, will become the second largest hotel group in Vietnam in terms of the number of rooms.
Reportedly, in Quy Nhon, Meliá plans to develop a resort based on the heritage and style of Spanish tourism, similar to the famous destination on the Mediterranean island of Palma de Mallorca, which the Group established in 1956.
In recent years, Meliá has also become known for its strategies focused on sustainable and environmentally friendly development. Regarding the Meliá Quy Nhơn Beach Resort project, Mr. Ignacio Martin stated that the Group shares a similar orientation.
"We care about our guests' physical and mental well-being in every aspect, from the smallest details like providing healthy, organic food and drinks at the in-room bar, to bigger issues like regularly organizing yoga and meditation classes for guests. We care not only about our guests' health, but also about the health of the planet we live on. Reusing, avoiding single-use items and plastic bottles, etc., are things we always prioritize," Mr. Martin shared.
Meliá Hotels International has been named the most sustainable hotel brand in Europe and Spain for the past three years, according to S&P Global's Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
Will Quy Nhon - Binh Dinh be the next "hot spot" for Vietnamese tourism?
In 2021, while many cities struggled due to the pandemic, Binh Dinh province surprised everyone with its development figures. Specifically,15 out of 19 key targets of the province were met or exceeded; the gross provincial product increased by 4.11%, higher than the growth rate in the same period of 2020 (3.45%) and the national average (2.58%); budget revenue reached VND 14,553 billion, exceeding the annual estimate by 37.8% and increasing by 13.5% compared to the same period.(Data from Tuoi Tre Newspaper).
Thanks to this development, Binh Dinh province is focusing on promoting investment in transportation, irrigation, and infrastructure; projects to build coastal roads and routes connecting the center of Quy Nhon with other localities are being accelerated by the province in the 2021-2025 period. In particular, the province's Phu Cat airport has completed its construction, renovation, and upgrading, meeting the infrastructure requirements to serve international passengers. In a meeting last February, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his approval of the proposal to upgrade Phu Cat airport to an international airport for Binh Dinh province.

Thus, based on its existing natural landscape advantages, along with increasingly developed infrastructure and attracting large-scale real estate and resort investment projects, it can be seen that Quy Nhon - Binh Dinh will soon become the next tourism "hot spot" in Vietnam, after Phan Thiet, Ho Tram, Da Nang, etc.
“Quy Nhon is one of the most attractive new destinations in Vietnam. Still relatively unspoiled with diverse natural landscapes – from lush tropical forests and verdant mangroves to pristine beaches – the area has recently attracted more international tourists,” said Ignacio Martin.
