The JW Marriott Hanoi was the hotel that served US President Barack Obama and his delegation during their official visit to Vietnam from May 22-25, as part of Obama's schedule to attend the G7 summit in Japan.

After months of meticulous and detailed work with the US embassy and government, the JW Marriott Hanoi hotel was officially honored to be selected as the accommodation and service provider for President Barack Obama and the US delegation during their three-day visit to Hanoi.

The JW Marriott Hanoi, the hotel with the "legendary dragon," hosted US President Barack Obama and the American delegation.

In conjunction with the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Guard Command, security checks at the hotel were tightened weeks in advance, with hundreds of Secret Service agents present to finalize security plans and establish a high-tech security surveillance system from the US Secret Service. This included surveying every area of the hotel, assessing security and safety conditions inside and around the premises, and daily testing and practicing the alarm and fire detection systems to prepare for emergencies. In addition, the entire elevator system was thoroughly inspected daily. Strict checks were also conducted on fire safety and food hygiene, as well as the food supply, to ensure absolute safety for the delegation during their stay at the hotel.

President Obama is the third consecutive president to visit Vietnam since bilateral relations between the two countries were re-established in 1995, following visits by former President Bill Clinton in 2000 and former President George W. Bush in 2006. This visit aims to highlight the Obama administration's commitment to rebalancing in the Asia-Pacific region and strengthening diplomatic, economic, and security ties with countries in the region.

In Hanoi, following the official welcoming ceremony, the President held talks with Vietnamese leaders, including meetings with President Tran Dai Quang, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and a courtesy call on General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He also delivered a speech on Vietnam-US bilateral relations at the National Convention Center.

The President then left Hanoi for Ho Chi Minh City, where he met with members of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), entrepreneurs, and the business community. Afterward, he departed Vietnam for Japan, attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit held on May 26th and 27th in Ise-Shima.

“It was a great honor for us to serve President Barack Obama and his delegation last week, and, along with the honor of serving international leaders attending the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting last March, the JW Marriott Hanoi continues to affirm its position as the top choice for providing accommodation and hosting heads of state,” said General Manager Mark Wielen.

The JW Marriott brand is the fastest-growing brand among Marriott International's hotel brands, and the group is currently the world's largest hotel group and an icon in the American tourism industry. The hotel boasts a prime location within the National Convention Center grounds, offering absolute safety and tranquility.

Having affirmed its high-quality service and significant contributions to Vietnam's tourism industry since its opening, the JW Marriott Hanoi hotel has been honored with prestigious awards such as "Leading MICE Hotel in Asia" by World Travel Awards, "Best Designed & Built Hotel" in the Asia-Pacific region, "Best MICE Hotel in Vietnam" by The Guide magazine; and the International Hotel Award with the highest scores in both categories: "Best Hotel in Vietnam" and "Best Conference & Meeting Hotel in Vietnam".
