In the context of the pandemic, masks have become an indispensable item when going out. However, the mask designs on the market only satisfy the functional aspect, and cannot be "worn" on special occasions. With the desire to create a mask suitable for attending weddings or celebrations, Japanese designer Yuriko Wada created the Origami Mask.

This mask design is inspired by the art of origami, combined with traditional Japanese washi paper. The product is "embellished" with gold leaf at the folds and can be folded and stored easily.

Instead of gluing or sewing, the mask is designed to form a three-dimensional dome, creating a space around the mouth when pulling both ends of the string. The washi paper material is breathable and soft, creating comfort for the user.
Yuriko Wada's innovative design won the Silver Award in the Fashion and Accessories Design category of the A' Design 2020-2021 competition.
