Every year, the breathtaking autumn foliage at Lake Tsutanuma, which only appears for a short time, attracts a large number of visitors. This year, due to concerns about the Covid-19 outbreak, the authorities have limited the number of visitors allowed to admire this impressive sight.

From early morning on October 27th, 107 lucky people, randomly selected, arrived at Towada-Hachimantai National Park in Aomori Prefecture, northeastern Japan, to admire the carpet of oak trees turning orange and red as they cascaded down into the crystal-clear, mirror-like lake from observation decks around Lake Tsutanuma.

Lake Tsutanuma's crystal-clear waters reflect the vibrant carpet of golden-red oak trees.

Lake Tsutanuma is one of seven lakes in Aomori Prefecture. Located at the foot of Mount Hakkoda, it is renowned for its astonishingly clear water. The crystal-clear water acts like a mirror, reflecting the vibrant orange and red hues of the oak forest in autumn.

This area has always been an ideal spot for nature lovers to admire the golden autumn scenery of Japan, enjoy the fresh air, and observe the changing seasons.
