After a long period of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hue Imperial Citadel and some Nguyen Dynasty tombs reopened to tourists on October 1st.

On September 30th, Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Ancient Citadel Relics Conservation Center, announced that the Imperial Citadel and the tombs of Emperors Minh Mang, Tu Duc, and Khai Dinh will reopen, but visitors will only be able to tour the outdoor areas and not the interiors of the palaces.

Visitors to the historical site must wear masks, disinfect, maintain social distancing, avoid gatherings, fill out health declarations, and scan QR codes. Visitors from other provinces to Hue must complete health monitoring as required, including those from epidemic areas receiving two doses of vaccine and self-isolating for one week.

According to the head of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Department of Tourism, currently one-quarter of the province's tour guides (equivalent to 200 people) have been vaccinated against Covid-19, and this number will increase in the future to proactively keep up with the trend of reopening the domestic tourism market.
