With more than a week to go until the National Day holiday on September 2, this year’s tourism market has seen positive signs since the beginning of August. The main trend is still family and small group vacations. Domestic tours and short-term foreign tours are the top choices of tourists.

Stable prices, priority given to customers traveling on tours

Through a quick survey by reporters, this year, transportation services, restaurants, hotels… are quite stable in terms of prices and ticket quantity with the cooperation of travel agencies, transportation and accommodation services. Many travel agencies offer good prices for tours on the occasion of September 2nd at the last minute.

Meanwhile, the price of foreign tours ranges from 4.39 million VND/person to more than 20 million VND/person for 3-day 2-night or 5-day 4-night tours, mainly to nearby destinations in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia. In addition to the variety of destinations, foreign tours departing from Ho Chi Minh City have "softer" prices than other localities.

A family of 4 going on a tour may be a bit more expensive than traveling on their own, but it's quick and convenient. If compared to the tour price advertised online, it's quite expensive, but I still decided to choose a reputable large travel agency because there are too many cheap travel scams these days."

Travel agencies said that customers buying tours are still mainly family groups, in which customers tend to choose 3-5 day resort tours, with an average of 4-10 participants per group.

Mr. Pham Van Bay, Deputy Director of Vietravel Tourism Company - Hanoi Branch informed that in recent days, the number of customers coming to register for tours has been quite busy. "According to the business sector, there have been more than 45,000 customers coming to Vietravel to register for tours and travel service packages for the upcoming September 2 holiday. As of mid-August, it has reached over 80% of the tour plan for the holiday."

Noting positive signals from the market, Saigontourist Travel Company said that it has sold nearly 90% of its planned September 2nd holiday tours with departure dates from August 29 to September 3. Domestic air tours and overseas tours to Northeast Asia are still accepting guests until the end of last week. Meanwhile, domestic land tours and Southeast Asia tours will accept guests until close to the departure date.

Statistics from travel agencies show that, although the holiday is 4 days long and close to the school opening schedule, short domestic tours are still the main product attracting family customers more than other routes.

Short-term tours to experience the ripe rice season and the culture of ethnic minorities in the highlands at destinations in the Northeast such as Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Moc Chau, etc. are popular with visitors, especially those in the South. Tours to relax on islands, heritage sites in the Central region (Hue - Hoi An), explore Phong Nha - Thien Duong cave (Quang Binh), travel to the highlands (Da Lat, Mang Den), and the rivers of the West are still the preferred choice of family visitors.
