Highly anticipated films for the Lunar New Year of the Rabbit

The Lunar New Year is considered a golden opportunity for Vietnamese filmmakers to release their creations in theaters.

Previously, Tran Thanh announced that he would be releasing the film "Mrs. Nu's House" for Tet (Lunar New Year), which he produced and directed, featuring a cast including Uyen An, Song Luan, People's Artist Ngoc Giau, Le Giang, Le Duong Bao Lam, and others. The film revolves around the family of Mrs. Nu (played by artist Le Giang), who sells banh canh (Vietnamese noodle soup) in Saigon. The story portrays the complex and multifaceted relationships among the family members. The main message, "Every family has its secrets," contains many hidden meanings about the film's content. Not overly dramatic or climactic, "Mrs. Nu's House" focuses on humanistic content and everyday life scenes that many people will see themselves in.

Sisterhood 2

Sister Sister 2 tells the story of two famous beauties of Saigon in the 1930s: Ba Tra (played by Minh Hang) and Tu Nhi (played by Ngoc Trinh). In the book Saigon Ta Pi Lu, scholar Vuong Hong Sen, who lived during the time of the beautiful Ba Tra, said he once spoke with her: "Miss Ba Tra, the most beautiful woman in Southern Vietnam, a woman of breathtaking beauty who captivated countless young gentlemen of the South."

Meanwhile, Tư Nhị, a Khmer beauty who had been mentored by Ba Trà, became her rival. The friendship between the two beauties fractured when many men began to fall in love with and pursue Tư Nhị.

According to director Vu Ngoc Dang, the film does not closely follow the lives of the two real-life characters, but only draws inspiration from them. The dramatic elements in the film are also toned down, instead focusing on humor, family, and bright friendships to suit the atmosphere of the Lunar New Year. The master swindler meets the master trickster.

"Super Swindler Meets Super Clumsy" is a film that director Vo Thanh Hoa has been developing for the past four years, along with producer Mai Bao Ngoc of 89s Group, and features a main cast including: Anh Tu, Mac Van Khoa, Trung Lun, Ngoc Phuoc, Meritorious Artist My Duyen, Dai Nghia, Cat Tuong, Lam Vy Da, Hua Minh Dat, Kieu Trinh Xiu, Quang Son...

Director Vo Thanh Hoa shared: “Producing purely Vietnamese films based on my own screenplays has been my dream for a long time, but only now have I accumulated enough knowledge, finances, reputation, and experience to make this work. This will be a major turning point in my filmmaking career, marking the beginning of truly authentic films ‘made by Vo Thanh Hoa’.”

The film's plot revolves around Khoa (Mac Van Khoa), a con artist who comes to Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) with the dream of changing his life. By chance, Khoa meets Tu (Anh Tu), a cunning and handsome criminal; and the two team up to successfully carry out many scams. However, when their gang recruits two more members – Mr. Nam (Trung Lun) and Ma Lai (Ngoc Phuoc) – many hilarious and absurd situations arise. The film exposes the sophisticated scams of today and sends a message against being naive and gullible. It is known that, in addition to scenes filmed in Vietnam, the film was also shot abroad.

All-Star Heist

As the only spectacular action-comedy blockbuster from Hollywood showing during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, All Star Heist marks the reunion of star Jason Statham and maverick Guy Ritchie, as well as bringing together many other talented names in Hollywood.

As one of the leading action film directors today, Guy Ritchie has been nicknamed "the Quentin Tarantino of the UK" by critics. This is because his directing style and heavy-hitting action sequences, unafraid to depict violence, bear a striking resemblance to the mastermind behind Kill Bill. Therefore, every film he directs is eagerly anticipated by moviegoers, and All-Star is no exception.

Recently, the aforementioned film released a trailer over 3 minutes long, revealing some of its content. Exploring the theme of espionage, the film follows Orson Fortune (Jason Statham), a skilled agent who has never failed in any mission.

On the other hand, Vietnamese films still face a formidable competitor from abroad - Avatar: The Way of Water. Officially released on December 16th, James Cameron's cinematic masterpiece is still doing extremely well in theaters and will certainly continue to be shown throughout the Lunar New Year holiday.

Released 13 years after the first film, Avatar 2 is a highly anticipated blockbuster for the end of the year. The film continues to be set primarily on the planet Pandora, opening with the narration of Jake Suly (Sam Worthington), an Earth soldier married to Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), a princess of the Na'vi tribe. After many years, they are happily married with four children, including Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), whom Jake and his wife adopted. However, the enemy returns, forcing the Na'vi to fight once again to protect their homeland.

Super Fat Cat

On the 5th day of the Lunar New Year this year, a brand new animated character with an incredibly adorable design, ready to captivate any audience, will be released on the big screen.

Unlike typical fairy tales about princes and princesses and romantic love stories, Fat Cat revolves around a mischievous fat cat, a group of mice who always dream of "living peacefully with humans," a shy young man, and a brave bookworm. The mysterious and novel fairytale atmosphere in the trailer leaves audiences excited and surprised.

With its captivating and humorous storyline, beautiful visuals, and especially the adorable, chubby main character, this film is a top choice for the whole family during the early days of the Year of the Cat (2013).
