The American travel magazine Travel+Leisure has listed 12 destinations in Asia that have appeared in blockbuster films and classic movies. These destinations clearly showcase the beauty, history, and culture of East Asia.
Ninh Binh is Vietnam's representative on the list, having served as the filming location for the $190 million blockbuster, Kong: Skull Island. With such a budget, the film required a correspondingly large and diverse setting, utilizing many locations in Vietnam as backdrops.

Along with other famous landmarks such as Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) and Chuot Cave (Quang Binh), Ninh Binh is featured in the film with locations like Trang An, Van Long Lagoon, and Tam Coc. An American magazine called Ninh Binh "the Halong Bay on land," boasting similar scenery but less known to foreign tourists. Ninh Binh is also praised for its many uniquely styled Buddhist temples.
Asian destinations boast a diverse range, from ancient temples hidden deep in the jungle to luxurious beachfront bars, perfect for adventure and role-playing films. Besides Ninh Binh, other destinations featured on the list include Siem Reap (Cambodia) in Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider, Busan (South Korea) in Black Panther, Singapore in Crazy Rich Asians, and the Maldives in Star Wars: The Final Fight.
