The cows were "flying" through the Swiss sky.

It's not just the pigs in Pink Floyd's fictional song that can fly; in reality, cows in Switzerland can too.

On August 17th, atop the Klausen Pass in the Swiss Alps, injured cows were "escorted" down to the ground by helicopter. Specifically, to safely bring 10 cows down the mountain, a group of Swiss farmers organized their transport by helicopter to a flat area where conventional cattle transport vehicles could reach.

More than 10 cows safely "landed" after a helicopter ride at an altitude of 1,950 meters above sea level. It's unclear whether they were offered food or water before the "flight," but they clearly had a priceless and spectacular view of the Swiss landscape.

A cow is carefully equipped for its "flight" across the Alpine meadow.

"I don't know how they felt after 'flying,' because they can't speak," said one farmer. "But the flight was short, the flight was quite smooth and slow, and I didn't notice any unusual behavior between the birds that had just 'flown' and the others."

According to Reuters, the remaining healthy animals in this herd of 1,000 cattle will walk down the mountain, after which the entire herd will proceed to the Urnerboden area in central Uri state to participate in the annual cattle parade.
