The pristine streets of Japan

13/09/2021

On his personal Twitter account, Japanese photographer Akine Coco once shared that he wanted to "recreate an anime world through photographs." Subsequently, an artistic photo series was created, depicting rural Japanese landscapes with clear, tranquil colors, and "as beautiful as an anime film."

It can sometimes sound a little funny when someone walks down a street in Japan and comments that it "looks too much like a scene from an anime," because, in reality, many anime (Japanese animation) series are inspired by and based on real-life locations.

Japanese photographer Akine Coco has proven that, at the right time and from the right angle, that observation can be true – when fields, streets, and houses seem to truly become like film.

Akine started taking photos in the summer of 2019 and posted them on his page.TwitterInitially, the reason was simply because many friends also joined in the photography. Most of the photos were taken in Sakai City in Fukui, Japan, where Akine was born. The artist's keen eye and masterful photography skills have created works of art that are as beautiful as paintings, making viewers feel as if they are transported to a scene from a Ghibli animated film.
