35% drop in customers due to intermittent power supply.
According to information from the Van Don District People's Committee, the number of visitors to the Minh Chau - Quan Lan tourist area has decreased by about 35%, to only about 12,700 tourists per week compared to the period before electricity consumption reduction measures were implemented.
This number is projected to continue to decrease in the coming weeks if power rationing continues.
The intermittent and frequent power outages not only drastically reduce revenue from service activities but also negatively impact the local tourism image, driving down visitor numbers during the peak summer season.

According to the Van Don District People's Committee, during peak tourist season, the island communes in the district usually welcome 19,000 - 19,500 tourists per week. Therefore, the district has submitted a document requesting the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Quang Ninh Power Company to pay attention to and prioritize providing full-time electricity to the Quan Lan - Minh Chau provincial-level tourist area.
In the coming period, the People's Committee of Van Don district is committed to seriously implementing the campaign to promote electricity saving in daily life; effectively reducing electricity consumption in public areas; and regularly inspecting and requiring organizations and individuals to save electricity in production and business in accordance with the directives of the Provincial People's Committee.

According to Quang Ninh Power Company, in order to minimize the impact on production and business activities, the company has publicly announced the electricity reduction schedule throughout the province with an optimal plan.
In particular, key tourist areas of Ha Long City will be prioritized to serve tourism development. At the same time, the power outage schedule will be more specific and the duration of power reduction will be shorter than before.
The specific reduction plan will involve reducing the number of lines by an average of 5 hours per line daily during designated time slots. There will be no reductions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons in the areas of Bai Chay, Hung Thang, Tuan Chau wards, and the Tran Quoc Nghien coastal road leading to the Quang Ninh Museum.

Mr. Nguyen Dai Cuong, director of Ha Long Power Company, said this is a tentative schedule, and the duration of the power reduction may change depending on the power capacity allocated by the National Power System Dispatch Center.
Currently, Ha Long City has over 110,000 customers (the largest number in the province), with electricity consumption in the first five months of the year exceeding 543 million kWh. During hot weather, electricity consumption in Ha Long City typically increases by 30-35%.
In particular, residential electricity demand has increased by up to 50% in some areas, putting significant pressure on the already limited electricity supply.
