On April 22nd, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (VNFAM) held a launch ceremony for its iMuseum VFA multimedia tour application. This multimedia application, including high-quality audio, text, and images, allows visitors to explore VNFAM both online and in person.
The application features allow users to view high-quality images of the artwork; read introductory texts; locate exhibits; view exhibition layouts; and distinguish between rooms that have been, are being, and have not yet been viewed using color coding.

iMuseum VFA is integrated on both Android and iOS platforms and uses QR code scanning technology and iBeacon location tracking. It can be used on mobile phones and tablets. The application costs 50,000 VND per use, with a duration of up to 8 hours, and supports 8 languages: Vietnamese, English, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Italian (German will be added in the near future).
According to Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, the application was researched and developed based on the need to improve the quality of visitor experience. It also stems from the benefits of applying information technology to the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage in general and fine arts heritage in particular.

The application is the result of a collaborative social project between the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and Vietnam Mobile Application Software Joint Stock Company (VINMAS). After more than two years of research, content development, and technology development, the application was put into testing from December 2020 and officially launched on April 22, 2021.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh highly appreciated the museum's initiative, noting it as one of the leading institutions nationwide in applying technology to enhance visitor experiences at museums.
"In 2020, when all travel was disrupted globally due to the Covid-19 pandemic, e-marketing once again demonstrated its crucial role. The development and deployment of the iMuseum VFA application will be a boost for cultural tourism destinations in general and museum systems in particular, motivating them to transform, catch up with global trends, and create new, exciting, and convenient experiences for tourists," Mr. Khanh said.

The museum houses more than 20,000 artifacts, vivid evidence of the development of Vietnamese fine arts from the Pre- and Early History periods to the present day, including 9 National Treasures.
For many years now, the museum has been undertaking numerous innovative activities such as building audiovisual rooms and creative spaces for children. More recently, it has been holding online exhibitions of works about the resistance war against the US.
