On September 30, 2025, Sheraton Hanoi Hotel announced that it had achieved Green Globe certification, awarded to accommodations that excel in sustainable development standards. During the evaluation process, three initiatives were recognized as outstanding: recycling food waste into organic fertilizer for the community, using a salt electrolysis system to reduce chemical levels in the swimming pool, and installing solar panels for the gym area. These activities reflect the hotel's efforts to minimize its environmental impact and promote a green lifestyle within its hotel community.
Transforming food waste into organic fertilizer for the community.
At the heart of Sheraton Hanoi's waste management strategy is a state-of-the-art composting machine that transforms food waste from the hotel's restaurants into nutrient-rich organic fertilizer. Instead of being landfilled, this waste is recycled into useful resources, contributing to reduced environmental impact and creating tangible value for the local community.

The composting process takes only about 24 hours, allowing food waste to be processed quickly and transformed into a useful product. The resulting fertilizer is not only used to maintain the green landscape within the hotel grounds but is also shared weekly with nearby residents, contributing to the nurturing of urban greenery. By "turning waste into life," Sheraton Hanoi presents a concrete example of a circular economy model that can be effectively implemented in daily life.
Maintaining crystal-clear water using a salt electrolysis system.
Sheraton Hanoi utilizes a salt electrolysis pool filtration system, replacing traditional chlorine treatment with a more environmentally friendly solution. The electrolysis process separates natural salt (NaCl) to produce just the right amount of chlorine to disinfect and prevent algae growth, keeping the water clean and safe. As a result, the amount of chemicals used is significantly reduced, providing a more comfortable and pleasant swimming experience for guests.

This system not only contributes to improved sustainable operational efficiency but also enhances the guest experience, providing cleaner and gentler water for the skin and eyes. This is an example of how Sheraton Hanoi applies environmentally friendly technology to minimize ecological impact while maintaining service quality.
Applying solar energy to the gym area.
The Sheraton Hanoi Hotel has installed a solar power system to supply electricity to the gym area, contributing to reducing reliance on the grid and limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Integrating clean energy into daily operations demonstrates the hotel's commitment to sustainable practices in every amenity.

In addition to minimizing waste and single-use plastics, Sheraton Hanoi Hotel also implements various energy-saving solutions such as heat pump systems, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and prioritizes purchasing environmentally friendly products from local suppliers. These green initiatives involve both staff and guests, creating a sustainable management model recognized by Green Globe.
“Sustainable development is a long-term direction for Sheraton Hanoi Hotel, linked not only to operational responsibility but also to the surrounding community,” shared Ms. Tiffany Hwang, General Manager of Sheraton Hanoi Hotel.
