Singapore allows Vietnamese tourists to quarantine at home

16/06/2020

Home quarantine is applied by Singapore to citizens/tourists coming from Vietnam, Australia, Brunei, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, mainland China and the territories of Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.

Citizens of 10 countries and territories, including Vietnam, will be quarantined at home instead of at Singapore's quarantine facilities starting June 18 after entering the country, but will have to pay for Covid-19 testing.

Citizens and tourists from other countries will have to quarantine at quarantine facilities or at hotels. The cost of quarantine is about 2,000 SGD (equivalent to 33.48 million VND).

All people entering Singapore after June 18 will have to pay for Covid-19 testing in the final days of the quarantine period, about 200 SGD (equivalent to 3.35 million VND).

In addition, entrants will have to use private vehicles or specialized vehicles when coming for testing, will not be allowed to use public transport and must return home immediately afterwards.

In early June, Singapore resumed essential travel for official or business purposes with China, meaning that those entering from both sides do not have to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine. Instead, they must undergo a Covid-19 test within 48 hours before departure and upon landing, provide details of their planned travel itinerary, download and use the TraceTogether app, and refrain from using public transport.
