The Singapore government announced that from September 8th, it will pilot a "green lane" for safe travel, exempting fully vaccinated individuals from Covid-19 arriving from Germany and Brunei, and will also ease some restrictions for travelers from Hong Kong and Macau (China) from August 26th.

Under this program, from September 8th, people from Germany and Brunei can enter Singapore without quarantine or travel restrictions, provided they have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

However, they must undergo four COVID-19 PCR tests: one before departure within 48 hours, one upon arrival at Changi Airport, one after arrival on the third day, and a final one on the seventh day. For the last two tests, travelers must undergo screening at a designated medical facility. If travelers fail to complete all of these mandatory tests, they may be fined under infectious disease laws and forced into quarantine.

Children under 12 who have not been vaccinated will not be eligible for this program. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) stated that travel routes for fully vaccinated individuals will be open for all purposes: leisure, business, or visiting family. CAAS also stated that the conditions for exemption from quarantine are that passengers must have been in Germany or Brunei for 21 consecutive days prior to entry. They must also arrive on designated direct flights.

In addition, Singapore has also eased restrictions for the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao in China. Those who have been in these two locations for 21 consecutive days can now apply.Air travel card(Air Travel Pass) for entry into Singapore from August 26th. Travelers will have to undergo a Covid-19 test upon arrival at the airport. While waiting for the results, they must quarantine and can continue their travel activities in the island nation if the result is negative.

Singapore was the first of the countries pursuing a "zero Covid" strategy to shift its approach from strict containment to living with Covid-19. However, according to analysts, while reopening will be a relief for people and businesses, the initial steps will still be limited, so the process may be slower than expected.
