After months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, parks and zoos in the US have been allowed to reopen. However, people remain cautious about gathering in public places. Therefore, the San Antonio Zoo (Texas, USA) has come up with a unique way to attract visitors by organizing an animal sculpture exhibition called Wild Connections, created by renowned artist Sean Kenney, a Lego expert from New York. The exhibition showcases over 30 sculptures assembled from more than 3 million Lego bricks, featuring animals such as pandas, lemurs, turtles, peacocks, bald eagles… and even insects like bees and butterflies. A convenient feature for visitors is the ability to enjoy the zoo while driving.

Each sculpture requires a great deal of time and patience to create. Artist Sean Kenney spent 405 hours and used 53,460 Lego bricks to create the baby panda; the bald eagle sculpture took 184 hours and 42,198 Lego bricks; the lion sculpture required 474 hours and 48,248 Lego bricks to complete…
The exhibition runs until September 5th.
