Considered the cradle of Buddhism, Sri Lanka attracts pilgrims with its numerous Buddhist sites. During their exploration of Sri Lanka, visitors can visit ancient capitals and admire Buddhist relics that have been preserved to this day.
In the ancient capital of Anuradhapura, visitors can explore two World Heritage sites: the Sri Maha Bodhi Temple, home to the sacred Bodhi tree planted over 2,200 years ago; and the Brazen Palace, with its 1,600 stone pillars, which served as the residence for monks.
In Polonnaruwa, visitors can explore the Gal Viharaya rock temple – home to four Buddha statues in standing, meditating, and reclining positions, one of the most representative examples of ancient Sinhalese carving and sculpture – as well as ruins such as the Royal Palace, the Lotus Pond, the statue of King Parakramabahu, the Parakrama Samudraya Lake, and the Dambulla Temple – all located within a limestone cave adorned with incredibly vibrant patterns on its walls and ceiling, covering a record area of over 2000 square meters.
The ancient capital of Kandy will be our next stop, featuring Lake Kandy, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, and Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Tooth) – home to the relic of the Buddha's Tooth and the main Buddhist temple of Sri Lanka since ancient times.
Leaving Sri Lanka after meaningful days of pilgrimage to this sacred land, tourists spend the rest of their journey relaxing in the paradise of Maldives with its luxurious resorts.
Here, visitors will have the opportunity to stroll along soft white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and coral reefs right by the shore. Furthermore, visitors can participate in activities such as yoga by the pool, massages, or water sports like surfing, scuba diving, or snorkeling.
