Hon Tam Island is located only about 7km southeast of Nha Trang city, making it easily accessible. From Hon Tam pier, it takes about 10 minutes by speedboat or just 5 minutes by yacht. Blessed with pristine natural beauty and situated amidst a year-round sunny and breezy blue sea, Hon Tam Island is an ideal destination for those who love ecotourism and relaxation.
In the summer of 2019, to meet the needs of tourists, Hon Tam Island resort launched the MerPerle Hon Tam Mudbath. Mud bathing is not a new activity in Nha Trang in particular and Vietnam in general. However, MerPerle mud bathing is something special and an unforgettable experience for any tourist.
Stepping onto Hon Tam Island, I was truly impressed by the resort, which covers a total area of 16,000 square meters, bordered by the sea, nestled against the mountains on one side, and offering stunning views of Nha Trang Bay on the other. The MerPerle Hon Tam Mudbath is located on the eastern side of Hon Tam Island. In the afternoon sun, under a cool blue sky, the scenery became even more romantic as I admired the MerPerle mud bath, uniquely designed in a terraced rice field style, harmoniously integrated with nature. Having been born and raised in Northern Vietnam, witnessing the unique beauty of Nha Trang's MerPerle mud bath suddenly brought back memories of my travels throughout the Northwest region during my ambitious student internships.
MerPerle Mud Bath is truly a unique and attractive recreational spot for tourists, offering a variety of tours and service packages. For just 350,000 VND per person, visitors can enjoy a hot mud bath at Hon Tam Mudbath. After a long journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, my fatigue completely disappeared when I immersed myself in the hot mud bath.
Since I was traveling alone, I chose the herbal bath to experience, but you can choose a couple's bath, a family bath… whatever suits you. Besides soaking in the hot mud bath, visitors can relax in the 2,000m2 infinity pool and Jacuzzi or experience a massage using the hydrotherapy system for the ultimate enjoyment.
For food lovers, visitors can choose the Hon Tam Sea Day Tour package combined with a mud bath for VND 899,000 per person. With this package, in addition to visiting the beach and swimming in the infinity pool at the MerPerle Sparkling Waves water sports area, visitors will also enjoy a buffet lunch at the Ocean View restaurant with 40 diverse dishes, experience a full mud bath, and a buffet of traditional Vietnamese dishes at the Hon Viet restaurant.
For seafood lovers, the Luxury Daily Tour package, which includes a mud bath, is available for 1,199,000 VND per person. This package includes relaxing moments swimming in the sea, enjoying diverse seafood cuisine at the Sea Breeze restaurant, watching traditional musical instrument performances, experiencing a full mud bath, and enjoying a buffet of traditional Vietnamese snacks at the Hon Viet restaurant.
But what impressed me most at MerPerle Mud Baths was the nighttime offerings. The experience of enjoying a luxurious hot mud bath, swimming in the sea, and relaxing in the pool after sunset was unforgettable. After those energy-draining activities, what could be better than enjoying a seafood buffet on the beautiful Hon Tam beach along with a lively performance by a Filipino band? The Filipino singers and dancers performed flawless English songs with powerful voices. Their stage presence and energy for partying were top-notch.
To enjoy all these special experiences along with services such as round-trip speedboat transfers and a light buffet of local dishes at Hon Viet restaurant, visitors must pay 1,299,000 VND. That's a considerable amount, but it's well worth the money if visitors choose the premium nighttime mud bath package on Hon Tam Island, the first of its kind in Nha Trang.
Indeed, the Hon Tam Island resort in general, and the MerPerle mud bath area in particular, gave me incredibly enjoyable experiences during my short trip to the coastal city of Nha Trang.
