On the evening of March 15th, at the Travel Fest 2019 tourism promotion event held at Aeon Mall Long Bien, travel blogger and tourism lecturer Nguyen Hoang Bao and young travel blogger Le Tu shared very detailed and authentic insights about backpacking, as well as useful tips on preparing for the trip, finding information, and finding accommodation to have a truly authentic backpacking experience.
Travel bloggers Nguyen Hoang Bao and Le Tu (from right to left) share their backpacking experiences at Travel Fest 2019.
For both guest travel bloggers, beyond learning about the culture, history, and people of the destination, the core of backpacking is "experiencing and understanding oneself better." Whether the trip is long or short, backpackers can proactively plan their itinerary, not be bound by a fixed schedule, and most importantly, travel according to their needs and preferences, creating the most comfortable experience for themselves.
While sharing the common belief that every backpacker has a shared desire to discover new people, new lands (such as a land where many cultures intersect like India), and conquer what has yet to be conquered, a seasoned travel blogger like Nguyen Hoang Bao and a young, emerging travel blogger like Le Tu also have their own distinct perspectives on travel destinations and how to experience them.
Travel blogger Lê Tú, born in the 1990s, once explored Ladakh by motorbike.
As someone who loves exploring culture, Nguyen Hoang Bao often seeks out ancient architectural structures with significant historical meaning, as well as learning about the customs and traditions of different regions. However, for someone passionate about adventure travel like Le Tu, "tough" destinations like Ladakh are where he can "satisfy his taste." Ultimately, the difference in these travel experiences "is not due to age differences, but probably mainly due to each person's taste."
Regarding preparing for a backpacking trip, the two guests emphasized that finding comprehensive information from suitable and reliable sources is extremely important. Travelers should first consider their interests, then find destinations and times, carefully read travel reviews and online resources, and finally design their own itinerary. There are many international travel websites to compare prices and intermediary accommodation websites such as Couchsurfing (staying with locals), Airbnb (staying with family), etc., to choose from.
Travel blogger Nguyen Hoang Bao goes backpacking to satisfy his passion for customs and culture.
Specifically, when asked about destinations travel bloggers would recommend to their audience, Le Tu chose Indonesia – a country with stunning natural scenery, picturesque islands, and mountains ideal for trekking. As for Nguyen Hoang Bao, the Philippines is a must-visit for beach lovers; and if you want to experience the cuisine and culture, Thailand is a great choice. Most importantly, wherever they go, backpackers always go to places they like, buy travel insurance, and plan the most suitable itinerary for themselves.
