According to Minister of Tourism and Sports Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, if during the Songkran Festival (April 13-15), the number of infections remains at 50,000-60,000 per day and the number of deaths does not exceed 100 per day, the Ministry will propose canceling RT-PCR testing for international visitors on their first day in Thailand and replacing it with professional ATK rapid tests from May 1st.
At the same time, the Ministry also proposed abolishing the requirement for passengers to register for a Thailand Pass from June 1st onwards. If the Thai government approves these proposals, international visitors will no longer need to register for a pass through the Test & Go or Sandbox programs, meaning they can enter Thailand normally as before the pandemic.

Recently, due to the continuous easing of entry restrictions and domestic pandemic prevention measures, tourism in Thailand is gradually recovering.
Since reopening the country on July 1, 2021, under the Sandbox program and the Test & Go program from February 1, 2022, Thailand has seen a continuous increase in tourist numbers, with 203,970 in February and 180,285 in March (up to March 21).
Previously, Thailand also planned to drop the requirement for a negative Covid-19 test certificate from April 1st.
