Thailand considers lifting all entry regulations from June 1

31/03/2022

Thailand is considering canceling the Thailand Pass and Test & Go program from June 1, returning entry regulations to normal as in 2019 to stimulate tourism in the new normal context.

According to Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, if during the Songkran Festival (April 13-15), the number of infected people remains at 50,000 - 60,000 people per day and the number of deaths does not exceed 100 people per day, the Ministry will propose to cancel the RT-PCR test for international visitors on the first day of arrival in Thailand and replace it with professional ATK rapid tests from May 1.

At the same time, the Ministry also proposed to cancel the requirement for passengers to register for the Thailand Pass from June 1 onwards. If the Thai Government approves the above proposals, international visitors will not need to register for a pass through the Test & Go or Sandbox program, which means they can enter Thailand normally as before the pandemic.

In recent times, due to the continuous relaxation of entry restrictions and domestic epidemic prevention measures, tourism in Thailand is gradually recovering.

Since opening the country on July 1, 2021 under the Sandbox program and the Test & Go program from February 1, 2022, Thailand has welcomed a continuous increase in the number of visitors, of which February was 203,970 people and March (as of March 21) was 180,285 people.

Previously, Thailand also planned to remove the requirement for a negative Covid-19 test certificate from April 1.
