Photographer Ngo Duc recently shared a series of photos of cherry blossoms in full bloom on the Oolong tea hills in Sapa. He has been working in landscape photography for about nine years now. Currently, he regularly organizes photography trips to various parts of Vietnam.
Through the lens of photographer Ngo Duc, the Oolong tea hills in Sapa, shrouded in a sea of clouds, present a dreamy scene, further enhanced by the vibrant colors of cherry blossoms.
The end of the year is the best time to admire this scenery.
The photographs taken by Ngo Duc were mainly taken in the O Long tea plantation area, Hau Thao, and the summit of O Quy Ho pass.
Located at the foot of the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain range, Sapa is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists. Known as the "land of mist," Sapa boasts a unique beauty in every season. Among its highlights is the stunning cherry blossoms on the Oolong tea hills during the winter months.
From a distance, cherry blossoms look like clouds drifting lazily amidst the lush green tea hills.
Located about 7 km from Sa Pa town, O Long tea hill is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in winter. At this time, the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom, and the tea plants are shedding their leaves, painting the entire area green and creating a dreamy, captivating scene for visitors from near and far. What makes O Long tea hill special compared to other tea hills is the cherry blossom trees growing interspersed among the tea rows. The tea leaves here are also a much darker green than those on other tea hills.
The vast, sprawling tea hills, along with the vibrant pink of cherry blossoms, create an irresistible attraction for many tourists who come here to take photos.
The most beautiful moment to admire the cherry blossoms on the Oolong tea hill is when the sunlight shines through the blossoms, highlighting their color in the early morning mist. This, interspersed with the green of the young tea buds, creates a poetic natural scene. In the cool weather, the vibrant green of the tea hills and the delicate pink of the cherry blossoms create an irresistible attraction for visitors to the Oolong tea hill in Sapa.
"Depending on the location, the best time to take photos varies. For Oolong tea hills, you can take photos from 5 am to 9 am or 3 pm to 5 pm. As for the Hau Thao and O Quy Ho areas, I took photos at sunset. However, you can also capture sunrise at both of these locations," Ngo Duc shared with Travellive.

What makes Oolong tea hill special compared to other tea hills is the wild plum trees growing interspersed among the tea rows.
To capture stunning photos immersed in a sea of clouds, Ngo Duc also mentioned that the weather here is unpredictable, sometimes resembling the sky before a storm. However, tourists don't always have the chance to see a sea of clouds. A crucial factor before any "cloud hunting" trip is air humidity. When the air humidity is above 90% and it rained the day before, the chances of seeing a "sea of clouds" are very high.
Visitors coming to take photos at the Oolong tea hill should also pay attention to the weather forecast and bring warm clothing.
"Every year, in early December, cherry blossoms bloom profusely in the Oolong tea hill area. The blooming period lasts about two weeks, perfect for tourists who want to immerse themselves in this magical scenery. In Sapa, only the Oolong tea hill area has cherry blossoms, and it's the most beautiful place worth visiting at least once," Ngo Duc said.
