On June 19th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province reported that in the first six months of 2023, the province is estimated to have welcomed over 8.3 million tourists, an increase of 13% compared to the same period in 2022 and reaching 69.6% of the 2023 plan; total revenue from tourism is estimated at over 15 trillion VND, an increase of 16.7% compared to the same period in 2022 and reaching 63.2% of the 2023 plan.
Sam Son beach is always packed with people.
Of that total, Sam Son City alone welcomed over 5.3 million visitors, generating estimated revenue of over 9,100 billion VND.
According to the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the above results were achieved because the locality proactively focused on promoting tourism linkages, promotion, and advertising to localities and travel businesses nationwide; developing new tours and routes; and organizing many cultural, sports, and tourism activities, attracting the attention of a large number of tourists from inside and outside the province.
From the beginning of 2023 until now, Thanh Hoa has witnessed numerous cultural, sports, and tourism activities. These include a series of events to inaugurate beach tourism in Sam Son, Hai Tien (Hoang Hoa), and Hai Hoa (Nghi Son town); and tourism promotion connecting four districts: Tho Xuan, Yen Dinh, Vinh Loc, and Cam Thuy.
These localities possess diverse and abundant tourism resources, with numerous provincial and national-level historical sites and scenic spots, such as: Ho Dynasty Citadel (Vinh Loc), Lam Kinh Historical Site (Tho Xuan), Le Hoan Temple (Tho Xuan), Dong Co Temple (Yen Dinh), Cam Luong Fish Stream (Cam Thuy), etc.
As a result, the number of tourists coming to Thanh Hoa from major distribution markets such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City is increasing.
According to the plan, nearly 70 cultural, sports, and tourism events will be organized in the province in 2023. Along with that, Thanh Hoa province will continue to innovate its existing key tourism products and promote diversification of tourism products, striving to achieve the target of welcoming 12 million visitors in 2023.
