America

Józef Mehoffer was one of the most respected Polish artists of his time, and his house in Jankówka near Kraków is an important part of his legacy. It has a charming old-world style and was tastefully furnished by the artist himself.

After his death, his family donated the Mehoffer House to the State Treasury, and it eventually became the property of the National Museum in Kraków. The Mehoffer House opened to the public in 1996 as a museum dedicated to the artist. This painting shows the courtyard of the Mehoffer House in full bloom in spring.

This jacaranda tree is very special because it was one of the first jacaranda trees planted in Australia from seeds imported from South America in 1864. Many jacaranda trees in the suburbs of Brisbane today are descendants of this first jacaranda tree.
