The competition showcases the beauty of vast natural landscapes in an extended format, aiming for a dramatic effect. The Epson International Pano Awards is the world's largest panoramic photography competition for professional and amateur photographers worldwide. The competition has attracted over 4,129 entries from 1,197 photographers in 98 different countries.
The Vein: Dushanzi Canyon in Xinjiang, China. Several drone photographs have been combined to create this impressive image of the Dushanzi Grand Canyon in Xinjiang, China. Over tens of millions of years, the melting snow of the Tianshan Glacier has shaped this natural landscape through the movement of the Earth's crust and the erosion of wind and rain.
The artwork Poison River depicts a stream of reddish-orange water flowing into the Rio Tinto River from a gold mine in Huelva, Spain. The Rio Tinto mine is known as the world's oldest continuously mined precious metal mine, dating back to the Phoenician era, a Mediterranean civilization that existed from 1550 BC to 300 BC.
The entry for Cave Diving Exploration, second place, Open category, depicts a diver exploring a cave on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula.
“No words can express my honor in winning the Epson Pano Award 2022 as Open Photographer of the Year. This means so much to me and to the homeland where I captured those stunning images – Xinjiang, China. As a landscape photographer, my heart always races when I raise my camera and capture the majestic landscapes of China that Western photographers rarely see,” Jinyi shared.

The work ranked 37th in the Open category, Walled Living, depicts apartment buildings in Hong Kong.
The entry "Living With A Monster," ranked 30th in the Amateur category, is a photograph of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma Island, Canary Islands.
Speaking of the winning entry, The Vein is the result of 40 photographs stitched together.
“I used my personal drone to take 90-degree aerial photos at 40 points (5 rows and 8 columns) of the canyon to get the most panoramic view. Nature is a masterful artist, and it reminded me of an abstract painting,” Jinyi said.
