Hom Nguyen officially brought his works to the Vietnamese art lovers at S&S Art Gallery in November 2021. In the last days of October, Hom Nguyen will return to Vietnam after a long time, to once again feel the vibrations of his roots deep inside him, but this time with a fresher mindset.
Interacting with Vietnamese art lovers and young students, Hom Nguyen hopes to tell his story and journey to encourage future Vietnamese artists to be confident in the face of difficulties and challenges when choosing this path.
Hom Nguyen showed his passion for art from an early age.
At the S&S Art Gallery, he will join the children and their parents in the painting activity together. As a child who faced countless difficulties but overcame them all thanks to his strong passion for art, Hom Nguyen understands the importance of being aware of and developing children's interests from a young age to later life. At the end of the 'hometown visit' journey, Hom Nguyen will directly paint a painting to honor the art of Patina on the occasion of the Berluti brand (founder of the Patina industry) opening its first boutique in Hanoi.
Hom Nguyen showed his love and talent for painting early on. He drew a lot, scribbling faces and landscapes with pencil on notebooks, table corners, and tissues. However, the hardship of a family of only 2 mother and son, the mother had an accident and did not know French, made the 4-year-old Hom grow up early and become a warrior.
When asked about his childhood memories, he remembered many things that were no longer there; no more mornings when his mother took him to school, no more nights when he slept soundly because he had to stay up to take care of his mother, no more a carefree childhood. He recounted, “Life, everything was turned upside down, I had to grow up quickly, very quickly because now I also had to take care of my mother.”
Hom stopped studying and started earning a living at the age of 12 in a clothing store, but his passion for art always smoldered in his heart. It seemed that for Hom, the lucky thing he had in this unfortunate childhood was the love of theater from his mother's friend, a flickering candle that gave Hom the idea that one could still nurture artistic dreams in a difficult life when the problem of food, clothing, and money was still the top priority.

As an independent Patina artist, he started by applying colors to leather and skillful Patina techniques to create vivid paintings on the feet of collectors. With his natural ability to paint, Hom then started to paint on shoes, tattoo on thick leather and created a small buzz in the industry, he had a more stable life and was known in this field.
There were even customers waiting for unique orders from Hom. He was surprised by his own development in the field of Patina, thanks to which he gained confidence in his artistic perception and decided to go further with the spirit of loving art.
