Colonel Phan Van Trang, Deputy Director of the Tien Giang Provincial Police, said that the unit has just submitted an official report regarding a group of 29 tourists (including 4 British nationals who were on flight VN0054) who arrived at My Tho Port to complete procedures for a trip to Cambodia on the Bassac Pandaw cruise ship, operated by Pandaw Cruises Company in Ho Chi Minh City.
The ship also had 33 crew members and service staff on board.
Specifically, on March 4th, the My Tho Port Authority (Tien Giang province) processed the paperwork for the Bassac Pandaw ship, and Pandaw Cruises transported the passengers from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) to My Tho Port by car to board the ship on the same day.
After departing, the ship stopped at Tan Phong islet (Cai Lay district) and a rice cracker factory in Cai Be town for tourists to visit. When the ship docked in Cambodia, at approximately 9 PM on March 10th, the My Tho Port Authority received a report from the captain stating that a 66-year-old British passenger in compartment 205 had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 and was currently being isolated and treated at a hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Currently, all crew members and passengers on the Bassac Pandaw are being quarantined on board by Cambodian authorities.

Immediately after the Tien Giang Provincial Police reported on the Bassac Pandaw tourist boat, on March 12th, Mr. Le Van Huong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control - convened an emergency meeting of relevant agencies to direct thorough handling measures. Mr. Tran Thanh Thao - Director of the Tien Giang Department of Health - said that the locality is urgently implementing preventive health measures, focusing on My Tho City and the two districts of Cai Lay and Cai Be.

The provincial Center for Disease Control also coordinated with the Cai Be District Health Center to guide 16 people from a rice puff factory in Cai Be town who had contact with the British tourist to self-isolate at home. Currently, their health remains normal.
