Colonel Phan Van Trang, Deputy Director of Tien Giang Provincial Police, said that the unit has just had an official report on a group of 29 tourists (including 4 British nationals on flight VN0054) arriving at My Tho Port to check in for the Bassac Pandaw cruise to Cambodia of Pandaw Cruises Company in Ho Chi Minh City.
There are also 33 crew members and service staff on board.
Specifically, on March 4, My Tho Port Authority (Tien Giang) completed procedures for the Bassac Pandaw ship and Pandaw Cruises Company transported the above passengers from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC) to My Tho Port by car to board the ship on the same day.
After departure, the ship stopped at Tan Phong Islet (Cai Lay District) and Com Lo in Cai Be Town for tourists to visit. When the ship docked in Cambodia, at around 9:00 p.m. on March 10, My Tho Port Authority received information from the captain that a British passenger (66 years old) in cabin 205 tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 and is currently being quarantined and treated at Phnom Penh Hospital, Cambodia. Currently, all crew members and passengers on the Bassac Pandaw are quarantined on board by Cambodian authorities.

As soon as the Tien Giang Provincial Police reported on the Bassac Pandaw cruise ship, on March 12, Mr. Le Van Huong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Tien Giang Province, convened an urgent meeting of relevant agencies to direct a thorough solution. Mr. Tran Thanh Thao - Director of the Tien Giang Department of Health said that the locality is urgently implementing preventive medical work, focusing on My Tho City and Cai Lay and Cai Be districts.


The provincial Center for Disease Control has also coordinated with the Cai Be District Medical Center to instruct 16 people from the rice kiln in Cai Be town who had contact with the British tourist to self-isolate at home. Currently, the health of these people is still normal.
