Specifically, the Lighting feature on Google Maps allows users to access information about street lighting. Lighting is designed to make nighttime travel safer by clearly indicating which roads have good, poor, or no streetlights. Roads with good lighting are highlighted in yellow.
This feature is considered very useful, especially for those who frequently drive or walk at night or in cities with limited visibility and streetlights. However, it is currently unclear how Google obtains this information about the streetlight system, or how it ensures that the information is always updated accurately in the application.
Lightning will soon be launched in India after testing related to the feature is completed. It will then be rolled out to other parts of the world.
However, it should be noted that this is a feature under development; it is not yet a reality and there is no guarantee that it will be used in practice.
