Specifically, the Lighting feature on Google Maps allows users to grasp information about the street lighting system. Lightning is designed to make traveling at night safer by specifically notifying which routes have good, poor, or no lighting systems. Roads with good lighting systems will be displayed in a prominent yellow color.

This feature is considered very useful, especially for people who often drive or walk at night or in cities with limited visibility and streetlights. However, it is not clear how Google gets information about this streetlight system, or how to keep the information updated to the application accurately.
Lightning will soon be launched in India after testing related to this feature is completed. It will then be rolled out to many other parts of the world.

It should be noted however that this is a work in progress feature, it is not yet a reality and there is no guarantee that it will be used in practice.
The need to find information related to safe routes to travel at night has been mentioned many times by users, especially those who often travel alone at night. If this feature is put into use, it will help people have safer trips.
