Seminar on "Promoting Hakone Tourism"

On July 8th, at the Lotte Legend Saigon Hotel, representatives from the Hakone Tourism Promotion Office of Japan held a seminar on the topic of "Promoting Hakone Tourism," introducing attractive tourist destinations and entertainment services in Hakone.

The seminar was attended by Mr. Kawaue Junichi, Consul General of the Japanese Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, representatives from Hakone City, six tourism companies in Hakone, and representatives from more than 20 major travel companies in Vietnam.

In his speech, Mr. Katsumata, Vice Chairman of Hakone City, assessed that Vietnam has experienced strong economic and urban growth and is certain to continue its strong development in the future. During this return visit to Vietnam, he and the Hakone City business delegation hoped to introduce Hakone's attractive tourist destinations and entertainment services to Vietnamese travel agencies, and in doing so, hoped to welcome more tourists from Vietnam to Hakone in the future.

At the seminar, representatives from 25 Vietnamese travel companies had the opportunity to meet and exchange directly with 6 tourism service providers from Hakone, including Izu Hakone Railway Company, Odakyu Tourism Company, Odakyu Group, and the Grand Prince Hakone Hotel, Fujiya Hotel, and Hakone Kowakien Tenyu Hotel chains.

Hakone City attracts over 20 million domestic and international tourists annually and is considered a treasure trove of Japanese hot springs. It boasts beautiful natural landscapes and World Heritage sites such as Mount Fuji, Lake Ashinoko, and Owakudani Valley. Located approximately 70km from Tokyo – the venue for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games – Hakone City is expected to welcome a large influx of international tourists in the coming years.
