23/12/2021

On December 20th, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a plan for organizing New Year's Eve activities in the city, including events such as a countdown program, New Year's Eve cultural performances, art shows, sports competitions, etc., if the pandemic remains at levels 1 and 2.

According to the plan, the countdown program will be held on the night of December 31st at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument Park in the city center, located at the intersection of Nguyen Hue and Le Duan streets.

In the coming period, traffic will be blocked from Le Duan Street (the section from Pasteur to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia) to facilitate construction and the organization of the 2022 New Year's Eve celebration. People will be directed to use alternative routes starting from December 25, 2021, until January 1, 2022.

In addition to this program, the city also organized art performances in Districts 12, Tan Phu, Binh Tan, Binh Chanh and the districts of Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be, and Can Gio on the nights of December 31, 2021 and January 1, 2022. On those same two nights, many cultural and artistic performances to welcome the new year 2022 will take place at the Youth Cultural Center, universities, colleges, vocational schools, and dormitories. The city also organized sports activities to celebrate the new year, such as the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Marathon 2022 in District 7; and a cycling race to welcome the new year 2022 on Mai Chi Tho road…

The organizing units are responsible for ensuring COVID-19 prevention and control measures are implemented according to the actual situation, adhering to the 5K rules, implementing zoning, traffic flow management, and controlling the number of participants in the event, etc.

However, if the pandemic situation in the city escalates to level 3 or 4, events will have to be scaled down, or even canceled. At the same time, the City People's Committee will require departments, agencies, organizations, and Thu Duc City and districts planning events to adjust their COVID-19 prevention and control plans according to each level of the pandemic.
