Tourist numbers in Da Lat increased sharply during the end of the year.

Da Lat reopened to tourists later than any other locality in the country since the issuance of Resolution 128 on safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic by the Government. However, by mid-December, the central area of Da Lat witnessed bustling streets and traffic, mostly cars, buses, and motorbikes of tourists visiting the city on weekends.

Currently, most businesses and tour operators in Da Lat have reopened, with only the night market remaining closed. Additionally, motorbike and taxi rental services are scarce on weekends; customers who don't contact rental companies in advance may not find a vehicle. The COVID-19 checkpoint No. 1 at Chuoi Pass, Madagui town, Da Huoai district, is experiencing congestion and overload of vehicles, mostly locals and tourists from Ho Chi Minh City and other southeastern provinces traveling to Da Lat.

Tourists visiting and staying in Da Lat have relatively easy access to the service; they only need proof of having received two doses of the vaccine, and children must have a negative COVID-19 test result.

Not only tourists from Ho Chi Minh City, but many people from Hanoi are also starting to return to Da Lat. "I only had the opportunity to return to Da Lat at the beginning of December. For us, Da Lat is still wonderful, the weather is beautiful. Despite having many activities, my group still strictly adheres to the pandemic prevention regulations," said Ms. Minh Tu from Hanoi.

According to data from the Da Lat Department of Culture and Information, the number of tourists staying in Da Lat from the beginning of December to the present has reached nearly 63,000, a three-fold increase compared to the previous month. Of these, 480 were international tourists. The city is also in cherry blossom season, and many tourists choose it as a destination for Christmas and New Year holidays because of the most beautiful weather of the year. Therefore, it is predicted that the number of tourists visiting Da Lat will continue to increase from now until the beginning of 2022.
