October to December
October and November mark the beginning of winter in Da Lat, so the weather starts to get chilly. Additionally, during this time, there is more sunshine and fewer sudden rain showers like in the summer. October and November sometimes also experience fog in the early mornings or evenings. This can be considered the ideal time to visit Da Lat.
During these two months, wild sunflowers will bloom brilliantly everywhere. Wild sunflowers usually grow in the suburbs of Da Lat. The flowers are most beautiful in the morning, when the winter sun has just risen, and dew still clings to the leaves and petals.
Visiting Da Lat at the end of the year, you'll get to experience the stunning pink grass season. The pink grass can be found near Dan Kia Lake. In the early morning, the pink grass, with dew drops clinging to the hills like snow, is also known as "snow grass." This location is perfect for picnics or photography.
In addition, you can visit Dalat Milk's farm to admire the vibrant sunflower fields and take photos with the famous buckwheat flowers found only in Northwest Vietnam.
January to April
The weather this season is very stable, with mild sunshine and little rain. Daytime temperatures range from 14 to 22 degrees Celsius, which is quite cool. There may be fog in the early morning or late afternoon.
For flower lovers, this time of year is the perfect time to visit Da Lat and admire its colorful natural scenery. If you're lucky, you might even get to attend the Da Lat Flower Festival, which is held every two years.
The period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) is when the flower villages in Da Lat are at their most beautiful. The flowers grown for Tet celebrations include many different varieties such as roses, chrysanthemums, lilies, orchids, forget-me-nots, etc. Famous flower villages here include Van Thanh and Thai Phien.
Visiting Da Lat at this time of year is especially appealing because of the beauty of the cherry blossoms. Considered the flower that heralds the arrival of spring, they bloom from the beginning of the year until March. The city center boasts over 3,000 cherry blossom trees, with the highest concentration around Xuan Huong Lake, Tran Hung Dao Street, Le Dai Hanh Street, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, and the road leading to Truc Lam Zen Monastery.
In recent years, white bauhinia flowers have appeared in abundance in Da Lat. Their delicate, pure white petals, like snowflakes, stand out against the clear blue sky, captivating many hearts.
From February to April each year, Da Lat is adorned with the vibrant yellow of Mimosa flowers. Mimosa has a yellow color like the first rays of sunlight, brilliant but not too dazzling. Before reaching the city center, visitors will travel along a dreamy mountain pass road lined with small, beautiful yellow flowers during the Mimosa blooming season.
In addition, this is the peak season for strawberry gardens in Da Lat. You can freely visit the strawberry gardens, eat strawberries right in the garden, and pick strawberries to take home. Currently, Da Lat has many strawberry gardens with various varieties, grown using extremely safe biological methods.
April to June
From April to June, Da Lat begins to transition into the hot and rainy summer season. During this time, temperatures gradually rise, and it becomes very hot at midday.
After the rains, Da Lat is shrouded in a hazy mist, creating a strangely romantic atmosphere. Even more so, for photography enthusiasts, June is the best season for cloud hunting in Da Lat. This is the season of swirling clouds or sea of clouds, usually beginning as the cold, sunny season gives way to the silvery mist season.
If you want to go cloud hunting, you have to go early, around 4 am. If it rained the night before, it promises even denser fog and mist. You should go to high and open locations such as Langbiang peak or Thien Phuc Duc hill.
July to September
The weather during this period will be very sunny and humid. In addition, there will be many heavy, prolonged rain showers. Therefore, Da Lat is extremely quiet during this season.
For those who choose Da Lat as a retreat, a place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle and pressures of life, July to September is ideal. You can choose a cafe, enjoy a hot drink, and quietly watch the rain fall through the window. Or you can snuggle under a blanket, wander around your chosen charming homestay, and enjoy a good book.
