Zeina Hammoudeh is an oil painter from Amman, the capital of Jordan. Her passion for art began in childhood. After graduating, she went to London to pursue interior design until 2010. She then returned to her homeland to continue her career in interior design, event design, and event organization. However, her deep love for art led her to become a full-time painter. Zeina's paintings are primarily inspired by the countries she has visited and their unique cultures.

Zeina chose traditional oil painting to capture memorable moments. Fauvism in painting, from masters like Matisse, provided her with abundant inspiration for professional development and creative work. The exhibition "Pursuit of Happiness" is Zeina's artistic storytelling, bringing everyday life to life in paintings brimming with positive energy and radiant happiness.
HAPPINESS IS THE GOVERNING SPIRIT
Drawing inspiration from still life and people, Zeina brings a refreshing breeze of love for life, prompting viewers to reflect more on the small things in their own lives. The highlight of Pursuit of Happiness lies in its bright, harmonious colors and simple lines, creating a feeling of happiness and positivity through the paintings of artist Jordan.
"HUY" - A young boy from the highlands nestled comfortably in a sling on his mother's shoulder. The distinctive details of the brocade fabric, combined with the vibrant green of the terraced rice fields, evoke a bright, indescribable feeling of happiness.
Viewers have the opportunity to visit the artist's worldview through her paintings, which are imbued with a fresh, optimistic, and vibrant spirit. Not only can viewers feel the brightness in the paintings, but they can also easily recognize the very Vietnamese elements that Zeina skillfully incorporates: brooms, flip-flops, coffee filters, etc. These small details are enough to convey the Jordanian artist's love for Vietnam.
The Lucky Charms artwork features a rooster as its main highlight.
In "Lucky Charms," Zeina skillfully incorporates symbolic elements of good fortune. The prominent image is that of a rooster, which serves as the central focus of the painting. In ancient Vietnamese belief, the rooster, with its resounding crow that echoed to the mountaintops, terrified evil spirits and was a symbol of protection, eradicating and subduing evil. Even today, in the minds of Vietnamese people, the rooster remains a sacred animal, appearing in everyday life as well as in cultural events.
Artist Zeina wishes everyone peace and good fortune in the Year of the Rabbit with her artwork, *Happy Go Lucky*.
The image of a cat in the Year of the Cat 2023 is depicted with adorable brushstrokes and colors in the artwork "Happy Go Lucky." The simple lines, bright colors, and charming details immersed many viewers in a space of joy and happiness. On the opening day of the exhibition, artist Zeina Hommoudeh welcomed and chatted with many attendees, sharing her joy and positivity in life.
FEMINIST IDEOLOGY THROUGH LITERARY WORKS
In addition, visitors to the exhibition were impressed by the painting of the Mongolian girl "GAN". There are still women who struggle to live a free and happy life – things that seem so simple in the 21st century.
Sixteen-year-old Gan grew up in a conservative, strict family. Lacking common ground in thinking, perception, and life views with her family, she was forced to fight for her own freedom and independence. Gan removed the veil that usually covered her face, allowing the world to see her raw, "very human" emotions. Behind the veil, many women conceal countless anxieties and worries about their difficult and confined lives. Gan overcame obstacles in a prejudiced society to become stronger and more resilient than ever before.
The noticeably sad eyes reflect the weariness, disillusionment, and pressure experienced by these women living in a harsh, conservative environment.
Or in her work about the French woman named Ms. Beaufort, the artist hopes that women all over the world can live as themselves. Beaufort is elegant and sophisticated, showing no hesitation or fear in her bold attire, confidently expressing her personality.
The Jordanian artist shared her love for painting women, seeing it as a way to convey a message of self-confidence and positivity to the women around her. "We women must stand together, motivate each other, and support each other. We deserve to be who we want to be, to dress the way we like, and to express our opinions," Zeina shared with Travellive reporters.
