"I realized that I don't belong in crowded, smoky cities. The proof is that living on the island has improved everything, both mentally and physically. In Phu Quy, I have many good friends, and it's a suitable place for long-term personal development," Ha Mo shared with a Travellive reporter.

Refusing to accept a monotonous life in the hustle and bustle of big cities, a young woman in her 20s nicknamed Ha Mo (a freelancer from Thanh Hoa) has traveled to many places to "experience life" over the past three years. With just a laptop and a few sets of clothes, she changed her work environment while simultaneously exploring different regions as a way to diversify her personal experiences.

WHAT'S SO FUN ABOUT "ESCAPING" TO LIVE ON AN ISLAND?

After seven years of studying and living in the bustling capital city of Hanoi, Ha decided to settle on this island to start her career. She believes she truly has a connection with this island, considering it her second home. "I realized that I don't belong in crowded, smoky cities. The proof is that living on the island has improved everything, both mentally and physically. In Phu Quy, I have many good friends, and it's a suitable place for long-term personal development," Ha Mo shared.

From a city girl with fair skin, after a few months of sun and wind on the island, she gradually tanned and developed freckles on her face. But in return, Ha learned to swim and dive, even though she was very afraid of water before. Most importantly, the young woman got to live a carefree, happy life and enjoy every moment of her life.

From someone who was afraid of water, Ha Mo has now become very skilled at swimming and diving, conquering various water sports.

"Before, I used to just stay indoors, glued to my laptop and phone, so I often had back pain and neck and shoulder aches," Ha shared. Her current freelance job also requires her to spend a lot of time using electronic devices. But living in Phu Quy has given her the opportunity to improve her physical fitness by practicing various sports. As a result, she has become healthier, more energetic, and maintains a cheerful and refreshed spirit in a short time. She can still balance and feel satisfied with what she has even while juggling multiple tasks.

Luckily living on an island, she can close her laptop, turn off her phone, and run to the beach whenever she feels too tired or stressed without getting scolded by her boss. To relax and feel more energized, she often goes scuba diving, paddleboarding, camping... before continuing her work. It feels like all her fatigue and worries disappear when she steps outside to breathe in the cool, fresh air of the island, or her heart finds peace when she quietly watches the magnificent sunset in the evening.

Camping and watching the sunset on the island is also a fun experience when visiting Phu Quy.

WHAT MAKES PHU QUY ISLAND SO ATTRACTIVE?

This isn't the first time this young woman has "escaped" the crowded city to find peace. In 2020-2021, Ha Mo spent three months "living" in Da Lat and four months in Mui Ne - Phan Thiet. Last February, she planned a three-day trip to Phu Quy Island, but on the third day, she canceled her trip and stayed on the island for two months. She then continued living there in June and July. This February, Ha Mo decided to settle permanently to start developing her career. Of course, Phu Quy Island has many attractive features that keep this young woman there.

Phu Quy Island emerges as a shining gem in Trieu Duong Bay, boasting stunning scenery, picturesque mountains and waters, and crystal-clear sea. When visiting Phu Quy Island, you shouldn't miss destinations such as: Ganh Hang Beach, Trieu Duong Bay, Van An Thanh, Phu Quy Island flagpole, Phu Quy lighthouse and wind farm, Cao Cat Mountain and Linh Son Pagoda,... Among these, Ganh Hang Beach stands out – a place with a crescent-shaped stretch of fine sand extending into the sea, its water as clear as jade shimmering in the sunlight, and countless uniquely shaped black rocks rising from the water's surface, creating a truly impressive sight.

Phu Quy Island is also blessed with abundant natural resources, including a wide variety of fresh and delicious seafood. "Since coming to Phu Quy, the amount of seafood I've actually eaten is many times more than in the years I lived on the mainland, even though I didn't like seafood before," shared Ha Mo. Phu Quy seafood is often prepared simply but still captivates many food lovers with its freshness and rich flavor. Here, visitors can try some seafood dishes such as: moon crab, lobster, grouper, conch salad, jumping snails, and especially the king crab – a dish closely associated with this place.

The gentle, simple, and always helpful nature of the people of Phu Quy is what made Ha want to stay on the island. "When I decided to stay even though I hadn't found a room yet, the locals called one person after another to ask about renting a room, and then even drove me to the place to check if the house was okay. On a remote island, among strangers, I didn't feel lost at all," she recounted.

In Phu Quy, she met many lovely, friendly, and kind people. "For me, even the smallest gestures of care and kindness from strangers make me feel more optimistic about life. Sometimes I feel a little lonely, but perhaps that loneliness has given me the opportunity to find peace in my soul, even when lying alone on the sand, listening to the waves and the gentle breeze," Ha confided.

The sunset was spectacular on the island.

Ha Mo: "I hope everyone can give themselves the opportunity to experience many things in life. Maybe try working in an office, then becoming a freelancer to see if you can be 'self-reliant' and 'free'? Or simply decide to learn to swim even if you've always been afraid of water? Try traveling alone to see if it's as scary as you imagine? Perhaps at some point, you'll need to go out, to new places, meet new people because there are so many wonderful things waiting for you."
