Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung has just signed Decision No. 1536/QD-BVHTTDL stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, effective from July 1, 2023.
The Vietnam National Tourism Administration is an administrative organization under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, performing the function of advising and assisting the Minister in state management of tourism and organizing the implementation of tourism laws nationwide, managing public tourism services in accordance with the law.
Since late 2021, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has been implementing the "Live Fully in Vietnam" communication campaign to promote destinations to international tourists after the pandemic.
According to the new organizational structure, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration will have a director and deputy directors, and will no longer have heads and deputy heads of departments (replaced by heads and deputy heads of divisions for divisions such as the Travel Management Division, the Tourism Accommodation Management Division, the Tourism Promotion Management Division...).
The Vietnam National Tourism Administration is a legal entity with a seal bearing the national emblem and its headquarters in Hanoi. Its English name is Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).
Regarding transitional provisions, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration will inherit the duties and powers of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism as stipulated.
Previously, on January 16th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Government Decree No. 01/2023/ND-CP stipulating the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, effective from February 20th. In this decree, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, under this ministry, will be renamed the Vietnam National Tourism Administration.
Thus, by Decision No. 1536/QD-BVHTTDL, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism officially adopted its new name from July 1st after several separations and mergers. Established in 1978, the National Administration of Tourism was merged into the Ministry of Trade and Tourism in 1991, then separated again in 1992 to become the National Administration of Tourism – a government agency – and finally merged into the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2007.
