"The greatest strength in each of us lies in the desire to live, for ourselves and for others. And in children, that desire is very simple, innocent, and sincere. Like the doodles of the children in this contest. I don't think we adults will judge which picture is ugly or beautiful. Most importantly, we will understand the good, honest, and intense dreams of the children" - Ha Anh Tuan shared.

"For a victorious Vietnam" is a painting and literary composition contest taking place from August 8, 2021, for children who have had or are being treated for cancer, serious illnesses, Agent Orange, disabilities, autism, and orphans.

After two months of organization, the contest attracted 2,300 entries with more than 1,000 contestants from 45 provinces and cities across the country. Among them, there were many ethnic minority students coming from far away provinces and cities such as Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Gia Lai...

The 250 best works (including 200 paintings and 50 handwritten letters) are currently on display at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. These are all works selected by a panel of experts. Each stroke, poem, and word not only reflects the children's feelings for those on the front lines fighting the pandemic, but also reflects the optimism and determination of disadvantaged children across the country. Many children draw when they have just finished chemotherapy, their bodies still aching. Others are stuck in the hospital, drawing to ease their homesickness and longing for school. Some are autistic children, only able to make friends with colored pencils.

"On the morning of the exhibition's opening, there was a moment that we especially remember. A grandmother came with her grandchild to attend, because the exhibition displayed her grandchild's work. Perhaps having just gone through a long process of treatment for her daughter, and now seeing her grandchild's painting here, the grandmother immediately could not hold back her tears and burst into tears" - journalist Nguyen Xuan Tu, a member of the Organizing Committee, recounted.

Cuộc thi do chương trình Mặt trời Hy Vọng (tiền thân là Ông Mặt Trời), Quỹ Hy vọng cùng báo VnExpress, trường Đại học Ngoại thương đồng tổ chức; VTV Digital bảo trợ truyền thông.

In particular, accompanying the children in this contest is singer Ha Anh Tuan - ambassador and also a member of the jury. He said: “Covid-19 will pass, and we will be left with many other problems to solve. More than ever, we need strong stem cells to regenerate and regain a lot of intense life energy. For Ha Anh Tuan, children are the stem cells of society. Especially with cancer patients and children with incurable diseases, we clearly feel the flame of desire to live, burning stronger than ever. The greatest strength in each of us lies in the desire to live, for ourselves and for others. And in children, that desire is very simple, innocent, and sincere. Like the doodles of children in this contest. I don't think we adults will judge which picture is ugly or beautiful. Most importantly, we will understand the good, honest, and intense dreams of children. The problem does not lie in the world of children, it lies in our world as adults.”
