A magnet attracting multi-generational tourism.
Vietnam is increasingly transforming itself into a modern, diverse resort paradise. In particular, when looking at the tourism map of the North, Sa Pa (Lao Cai) is emerging as a phenomenon, a "must-visit" destination that has received glowing reviews from both Korean and Thai media.
Beyond its majestic natural scenery, Sa Pa is proving its immense appeal by perfectly catering to the multi-generational tourism trend – a challenging problem that not every destination can fully solve.
According to Naver, a leading South Korean online news portal, there is a shift in the international travel preferences of South Koreans. Vietnam, with its advantages of virtually no time zone difference, convenient flight network, and reasonable costs, has become a preferred choice.
While Da Nang has long been known as the "Korean city in Vietnam," Sa Pa is a fascinating new discovery, particularly appealing to middle-aged and elderly tourists who seek a balance between spiritual experiences and luxury relaxation.

The appeal of Sa Pa to Korean tourists lies in its ability to realize the dream of conquering the peak without excessive effort. With the world's most modern cable car system, the journey to reach Fansipan, the "Roof of Indochina," at an altitude of 3,143 meters now takes only 15 to 20 minutes. Instead of arduous trekking routes, generations of families – from grandparents to children – can enjoy the feeling of traveling through the clouds and admiring the magnificent spiritual and cultural complex on the mountaintop.
Not wanting to be left out of this trend, Thailand's Bangkok Today also stated that Vietnam is the most outstanding travel destination in the region this decade. The newspaper emphasized that Sa Pa is a rare combination of three elements: romance for couples, adventure for young people, and modern amenities for vacationers.

Besides Fansipan peak, international media were particularly impressed with Ban May cultural village, a living museum that authentically recreates the unique life of ethnic minorities in the highlands. Here, visitors are not only observers but also immerse themselves in the flow of local culture.
But that's not all; the 2km Muong Hoa mountain railway experience – considered the most beautiful railway in Vietnam – offers a panoramic view of the valley with its magnificent terraced rice fields, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the interplay between human ingenuity and nature.
Sa Pa fully meets the needs of relaxation and exploration for all ages.
The praise from international media is not accidental but is evidenced by the "telling" figures on tourism economic growth. In the first quarter of 2026, Lao Cai province welcomed approximately 3.4 million visitors, completing more than 30% of the annual plan, including an impressive 515,000 international visitors. Total tourism revenue reached approximately 12,872 billion VND, a figure that affirms the enormous contribution of the "smokeless industry" to the local development.
Sa Pa has also received recognition from leading international organizations. The prestigious travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller recently officially ranked Sa Pa among the 53 most beautiful towns in the world.
In the eyes of international tourism experts, Sa Pa appears like a watercolor painting with the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain range, terraced rice fields winding like heavenly piano keys, and a system of magnificent waterfalls. What gives Sa Pa its unique identity, helping it surpass many strong competitors, is its complete separation from the hustle and bustle of urban life, providing a quiet and peaceful space where visitors can truly "return to themselves".
Sa Pa offers a tranquil and peaceful space where visitors can truly "reconnect with themselves".
It can be said that Sa Pa is facing a new opportunity to assert its position on the world tourism map. Its transformation from a simple mountain town into a multi-functional tourism center, integrating culture, nature, and modern technology, has helped Sa Pa capture the hearts of both Eastern and Western tourists.
With its sustainable development strategy and systematic infrastructure investment, the "town in the mist" will undoubtedly continue to be a trending keyword, a top destination for healing and bonding among international tourists in the coming years.
