At 8:16 p.m. on September 23, 2021, Bamboo Airways' Boeing 787-9 aircraft named Quy Nhon City officially took off for the US with 20 crew members and technicians. It is expected that at 9:52 a.m. on September 24 (Vietnam time), or about 7:52 p.m. on September 23, US time, the plane will land in San Francisco.
This is also the first flight Bamboo Airways has tested the IATA Travel Pass application - IATA electronic health passport after nearly 3 months of coordination to prepare the system. The return flight transported 7 tons of special medical equipment to Vietnam to serve the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Mr. Trinh Van Quyet, Chairman of Bamboo Airways, shared: "The 3 years of persistent efforts of the Bamboo Airways team to enter a potential and demanding aviation market with high standards are finally starting to bear fruit. The prospect of passengers in two countries halfway around the world boarding a plane, watching 1-2 movies, taking a nap, then waking up to have breakfast and read the newspaper before arriving at their destination is no longer too far away."
Previously, on September 21, in New York (USA), Bamboo Airways officially announced the Vietnam-US direct flight route and launched AVIAWORLD as the airline's official General Agent in the US market. AVIAWORLD will support Bamboo Airways in procedures and policies with local authorities regarding the airline's air transport services; promote sales...

As planned, Bamboo Airways will join the Aviation Reporting Group (ARC) from October 2021 to prepare for ticket sales through travel distribution channels in the US market.
Bamboo Airways expects that if conditions permit, the Vietnam-US route will be put into operation from early 2022, with an initial frequency of 3 flights/week and will increase based on market demand. In the short term, the airline will fly the route from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to San Francisco International Airport, and in the long term will connect with both major airports in California, San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.
