Currently, Japan is one of the most important international tourist markets of Vietnam tourism. The number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam is constantly increasing, ranking 3rd among international tourist markets to Vietnam, only after China and Korea. Therefore, introducing Vietnamese tourism in Japanese cities is very necessary, contributing to the process of increasing the number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam in the coming time.

According to statistics from the General Department of Tourism, in 2018, Vietnam welcomed 826,674 Japanese visitors, an increase of 3.6% compared to 2017. After 7 months of 2019, Japanese visitors to Vietnam also increased by 12.9%. Some tourist destinations in Vietnam that attract Japanese visitors are Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, the cluster of Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An, Nha Trang, the Mekong Delta... Vietnam's tourism products that are popular with Japanese visitors are cultural experience tourism, world heritage and beach resorts.
The growth rate of Japanese tourists to Vietnam is not high but stable. In some years such as 2013, 2014, 2015, the number of international tourists to Vietnam decreased sharply but the number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam still grew, at an average rate of about 8%/year. With the current growth rate, it is expected that in 2020, Vietnam will welcome 1 million Japanese tourists.
