In the face of the complicated developments of the epidemic in Korea, the Middle East and Europe in recent days, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to inform Korea and other countries with epidemics of Vietnam's epidemic prevention measures - including temporarily suspending entry for people coming from or passing through epidemic areas. Those entering Vietnam for official purposes or in special cases will have to declare their health and be quarantined for 14 days.
The epidemic in Europe is getting more intense: Italy recorded 94 new infections (total 323 infections), 3 more European countries have people infected with the virus.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Vietnamese citizens do not travel to epidemic areas, except in necessary cases; if they still travel, they must be quarantined for 14 days upon re-entering Vietnam. The Ministry also encourages Vietnamese people living and working in Korea to comply with the epidemic prevention instructions of the local authorities. As for Vietnamese citizens in epidemic areas of China, they can only return to the country through international border gates. Vietnam will continue to strictly control people crossing trails and openings at the border.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Health to organize centralized quarantine at medical facilities for suspected cases and other cases. The Ministry of National Defense was assigned to prepare facilities, equipment, reception areas, accommodation... to centrally quarantine people coming from epidemic areas, but must reduce the density of quarantine in border provinces to ensure no cross-infection.
Disease prevention work is thoroughly carried out at airports.
The Ministry of Public Security is responsible for notifying the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Health and localities of information about people from epidemic areas entering Vietnam for quarantine. All flights from epidemic areas in South Korea will be diverted to land at Van Don airport (Quang Ninh province), Phu Cat (Binh Dinh province) and Can Tho city.
Citizens of epidemic countries (including non-epidemic areas of these countries) must make mandatory health declarations when entering Vietnam.
The Prime Minister also stated that Vietnam has achieved important initial results in preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic, which have been highly appreciated by the international community and the people. Up to now, 16 cases of coronavirus infection in Vietnam have all been cured; 1 suspected case is being isolated and monitored; 6,470 people are in normal health but are still isolated because they have come into contact with suspected cases.
