On February 25th, Austrian authorities confirmed the country's first two cases of nCoV infection. Both patients are Italian citizens living in Tyrol. They are believed to have contracted the virus during a trip to Lombardy – the epicenter of the outbreak in Italy.
On the same day, the Croatian Prime Minister also announced that the country had recorded its first case of nCoV infection. The patient is being treated in isolation at a clinic in the capital, Zagreb. According to Croatian Health Minister Vili Beros, the patient had traveled to Milan (Lombardy, Italy) from February 19 to 21.
Milan (Italy) has not been placed under lockdown, but it has already become quiet and stagnant due to the pandemic.
The Swiss Ministry of Health has also just confirmed its first case of the novel coronavirus but declined to say where the case was detected.
As of now, Italy has the highest number of nCoV virus infections in Europe and the third highest in the world (after China and South Korea). According to statistics from February 26th, Italy recorded 323 cases of Covid-19, including 11 deaths. More than 50,000 people in 11 towns in northern Italy, believed to be the epicenter of the outbreak, have been placed under lockdown to prevent the spread of the disease.
