Vung Tau attracts many tourists during the September 2nd holiday.

Located just about a 2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau tops the list of most popular domestic destinations, offering a variety of transportation options such as buses, limousines, and hydrofoils, promising a vibrant and fun-filled holiday during this year's September 2nd National Day.

This coastal city, surrounded by 42 km of coastline, boasts many beautiful beaches, and features the 245-meter-high Mount Large (Mount Tuong Ky) and the 170-meter-high Mount Small (Mount Tao Phung). On Mount Small stands an 18-meter-tall lighthouse with a range of 30 nautical miles and over 100 years old, considered the oldest lighthouse in Vietnam. Mount Large features Ho May, a large freshwater lake and a pristine forest. These scenic attractions of Vung Tau drew Vietnamese tourists to the city for a relaxing holiday during the 2019 Independence Day celebrations.

In Agoda's list, many coastal cities are popular choices for tourists. Da Nang ranks second, and its neighbor Hoi An ranks seventh, promising a bustling holiday season in the central coastal region. The familiar destinations of Nha Trang and Phan Thiet rank fourth and sixth respectively. Hotels and cruises in Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are also popular choices, helping this destination secure ninth place and surpass the paradise island of Phu Quoc (ranked tenth).

Mountain towns like Da Lat (ranked 5th) and Sapa (ranked 8th) were also named in the top 10, while Ho Chi Minh City was the only major city in the top 10, holding the 3rd position.

According to Agoda, the number of flights offered by Vietnamese airlines increased significantly during the September 2nd holiday. Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific will provide nearly 242,000 seats across their domestic network over the four days from August 30th to September 2nd, 2019. Specifically, Vietnam Airlines added 15,000 seats compared to its usual capacity, bringing the total domestic network capacity to nearly 162,000. The routes with the most increased capacity are between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hue, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Da Lat, and Phu Quoc. Jetstar Pacific will provide a total of over 80,000 domestic flights during this period.
