The Sa Pa Airport is planned to be built on an area of ​​371 hectares in Cam Con commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province, with a total investment of nearly 4,200 billion VND.

Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung requested the People's Committee of Lao Cai province to direct and implement the process of receiving and finalizing the proposal for the construction of Sa Pa Airport within its authority. The People's Committee of Lao Cai province also needs to coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to submit the project to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on investment in accordance with the law.

Previously, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province requested the Prime Minister to consider and approve the investment policy for the Sa Pa airport project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model in Cam Con commune, Bao Yen district. The project, built on an area of ​​371 hectares, will be a level 4C civil airport and a level II military airport with a capacity of 1.5 million passengers per year, featuring one runway and a connecting road system to the Noi Bai – Lao Cai expressway with two lanes.

The total investment for the project is VND 4,194 billion, of which VND 1,195 billion comes from the local budget, and VND 2,999 billion is the investor's equity combined with commercial loans. The project is expected to be implemented over 50 years, including 4 years for construction and 46 years for toll collection to recover investment and generate profit for the investor.
