Daxing Airport is located 46 km from the center of Beijing and covers an area of ​​approximately 47 square kilometers.²The airport, comprising four main runways and four auxiliary runways, is capable of handling multiple aircraft simultaneously. The building complex at Daxing Airport alone covers an area of ​​313,000 square meters.²(consisting of a central area and 5 branches radiating outwards, resembling a phoenix with outstretched wings).

Commenting on Daxing Airport, many construction experts were "amazed" by China's "exceptionally fast" construction speed. Specifically, construction of Daxing Airport only began in December 2014; in September 2015, excavation for the foundation and the first concrete pouring for the airport terminal started.

But less than 21 months later, on June 30, 2017, the steel dome structure of the terminal – one of the most important components of the airport (along with the runway, logistics area/air traffic control tower) – was completed. By May 13, 2019, Daxing Airport officially conducted its first test flights, with simultaneous takeoffs and landings of four aircraft on all four main runways.

On June 30, 2019, the final construction phases of Daxing Airport were completed as planned. And on September 25, China officially inaugurated Daxing International Airport – a new symbol of Beijing.
