On September 25th, China officially inaugurated and opened Beijing Daxing International Airport. This event took place just before the 70th anniversary of the country's National Day, making this massive project even more significant.

Located 46 km from the center of Beijing, Daxing International Airport covers an area of 47 square kilometers.2The main station complex, in particular, covers an area of 313,000 m².2It consists of a central area and five branches radiating in different directions. The architecture is described by investors as being inspired by the image of a phoenix spreading its wings in flight.
The airport's roof is shaped like a flower, which is extremely impressive.
Despite having only four runways officially in operation, the airport can handle up to 300 arrivals and landings per hour. It is projected that by 2021, Daxing Airport will welcome 45 million passengers, and this number will reach 72 million by 2025. This makes it an impressive "mega-airport".
Investors expect the airport to handle 45 million passengers in 2021.
The architecture of the central station was designed by architect Zaha Hadid. She is a renowned British architect of Iraqi origin, known for her mastermind behind iconic projects such as: the Vitra Fire Station (Germany), the central building in the BMW car manufacturing complex (Germany), Hoenheim North Station (France), and the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art (USA)...
The interior of the station uses white as the dominant color.
The entire construction process lasted less than five years, but all aspects were built to the highest quality, befitting an international "super airport." Images taken inside immediately went viral on Chinese social media, promising it will be a popular tourist destination in the near future.
Some flights have already begun operating.
Currently, the airport has begun operating its first flights, operated by China Southern Airlines to Guangzhou and China Eastern Airlines to Shanghai. In addition, several foreign airlines, including British Airways and Finnair, plan to relocate all or part of their flights to Beijing Daxing Airport.
