Located 46 km from the center of Beijing, Daxing International Airport covers an area of 47 km2. Of which, the main terminal complex covers an area of 313,000 m2, consisting of a central area and 5 branches radiating in different directions. This architecture is described by investors as inspired by the image of a phoenix spreading its wings in flight.
The airport roof is shaped like a very impressive flower.
Although only 4 runways have been officially put into operation, this airport can handle up to 300 flights arriving and landing within 1 hour. By 2021, Daxing airport is expected to receive 45 million passengers, and this number will be 72 million passengers by 2025. That makes it an impressive "super airport".
Investors expect the airport to handle 45 million passengers by 2021.
The architecture of the central station was designed by architect Zaha Hadid. She is a famous British-Iraqi female architect, known as the magic hand behind famous works such as: Vitra Fire Station (Germany), the central building in the BMW car manufacturing complex (Germany), Hoenheim North Station (France), Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art (USA)...
Inside the station uses white as the main color.
The entire construction process lasted less than 5 years, but all items were constructed with the best quality, reaching the level of an international "super airport". The photos taken inside immediately caused a stir on Chinese social networking sites, promising that this will be an attractive tourist destination in the near future.
Some flights have already started.
The airport has already begun its first flights operated by China Southern Airlines to Guangzhou and China Eastern Airlines to Shanghai. In addition, several foreign airlines, including British Airways and Finnair, plan to move all or part of their flights to Beijing Daxing Airport.
